Chef Doug Johannes, a native of the U.S. Virgin Islands, has catered to a variety of distinguished clients (including the Governor of the Virgin Islands, senators and more). Doug moved to Kentucky…known for its southern charm, fine Bourbon, and, of course, great cooking.
From this start, Doug began building his culinary dream. Doug is a cum laude Culinary Arts graduate of the world-renowned Johnson and Wales University, where he started his career with a simple plan: to develop his special New Wave Caribbean Cuisine and infuse it with the southern tradition of the bluegrass State. As we like to say, “Just One Bite and You’re Hooked.” ©
Now, more than a decade later, Chef Doug’s Gourmet Foods has become a successful and diverse business venture that includes Personal Catering Services, our Mobile Food Truck and a full line of Gourmet Take-Home Products. Our take-home products are high-quality, made with ingredients from local family farms.
Chef Doug has developed Chef Doug’s Gourmet Foods, featuring Chef Doug’s Caribbean Hot Sauce, Sweet n Spicy BBQ Sauce, Mustard Honey BBQ Sauce and Chef Doug’s Gourmet Fish Fry Mix. This deluxe fish fry coating is the backbone of his unique fish fry for company picnics, family reunions, musical festivals and fundraising events. All of these products are available locally at the KY Proud Store/Boone Creek Creamery on Palumbo Drive in Lexington, KY and online.
