Chef Doug's Gourmet Foods

Position is Hourly, Plus Commissioned based

Seeking an intern to grow sales on a three tier approach. The primary sales approach should be focused on increasing growth in Chef Doug’s mobile catering which is perfect for corporate events, safety recognition lunches, employee appreciation, company fun days, picnics, and fundraisers for nonprofit organizations. The intern will also work to increase sales of Chef Doug’s Gourmet line of food products which includes barbeque sauces, hot sauce, specialty breading, and a unique line of gourmet cookies. The intern will also promote Chef Doug’s events, and catering services.

The ideal candidate will aim to acquire new customers, maintain current customers, and acquire large orders for various events and the gourmet product line. He/she will work closely with the owner to create a local marketing plan that encompasses Fayette, Clark, Franklin, Montgomery and Scott Counties.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Organize daily and weekly plans to meet with new and existing clients to increase mobile catering, product sales, and event catering.

  • Ability to ask fact-finding questions and probe for additional business both in person as well as via phone calls, including cold calls.
  • Ability to locate new clients through word of mouth, business groups, as well as other methods.
  • Must be able to present tastings and gourmet product lines to a small group of potential customers.
  • This position requires time management skills to ensure success through field visits as well as phone calls.
  • Must be able to build a comprehensive market strategy to grow catering sales within a given area.
  • Ensure compliance with all guidelines provided by the company with regards to menu specifications, pricing, discounting, and other issues that have been reviewed.
  • Compiling and analyzing sales figures
  • Recommend efforts and training to address ongoing issues.
  • Assist at catering events and product sampling sites.
  • Maintain, Photo Opportunity, post and Update Company’s social media presence in professional manner (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Yelp etc.)

Must be outgoing, professional in speech, dress and conduct.

ability to make and maintain contacts in the community with local businesses, schools, medical facilities, and other organizations are a plus but not necessary.

Must have excellent communication skills.

Required education:

  • High School or equivalent
  • Currently enrolled in a Culinary, Marketing, or other secondary academic program.
